When I was playing basketball in high school, I experienced an injury that really rocked my world in some ways, because it triggered a couple of -basically- lifetime things. So I was at a scrimmage, we were practicing for an upcoming game and I basically got checked by one of m teammates and I fell and I experienced a minor concussion, twisted like rotation in my hip, and then a sprain in my lumbar. And although the first two things went away um the sprain in my lumbar didn’t really. So I ended up in Dave’s office probably 11 years later. This back injury had flared up in a way that I I didn’t really recognize. I was experiencing like nerve tingling down the back of my left leg, and so I remember one morning getting pretty freaked out and rushing to the the doctors and they were like, you need to get an MRI and the outcome of the MRI was two herniated discs starting – probably the origin was this high school basketball injury – and the specialist I saw was like, “you need to go see a physical therapist.” And I was like I’ve seen a million, who could possibly fix this now? They’re like, I want you to go see um see Dave at Spear. And Dave’s approach was incredible um it really worked with how I think. He explained a lot of the why behind the exercises that he wanted me to do, and he’s also just a chill guy so we connected on multiple levels. But most importantly he armed me with a set of tools that I to this day practice regularly. They’ve significantly improved not just my resiliency when it comes to things related to my back but also just like a mindset around awareness for my health um and well-being that goes beyond the scope of this injury. I’m in a position now where I don’t need to see him regularly and I think that like also sort of jives with his approach where he’s like my goal is not to keep you in here forever um but to help you get out as quickly as possible. He honestly feels more like a coach SL friend rather than like a h you know sort of inaccessible behind layers of bureaucracy kind of doctor um I’ve recommended Spear and Dave specifically to a number of people including my sister and the reason is because I think a PT can have an outsized impact on your life I when I talk to my friends about who are going to physical therapy it sort of sounds like how I don’t know my friends used to talk about eating broccoli when they were kids like just like this thing that you have to do and like oh it sucks I rule um but yeah it can have like just an incredible positive impact on your whole life um and so I’m grateful to spear and Dave in particular you can imagine that when you meet someone who like sort of gets you back up on your feet um quickly uh that uh the Gratitude is immense cuz I can just live my life like a you know like a normal like healthy person um and I know what it feels like to not not be able to do those things very basic things yeah I I just like I don’t think I’d be healthy in the way that I am uh if not for if not for Spear.
